Junior Eurovision Calendar: What’s happening this month!

There have been few Junior Eurovision announcements thus far, but September will prove to be a big month in the lead up to the contest. A handful of nations will be selecting their acts and/or entries, so here’s what we know so far:

September 1^st:

Ireland will once again be holding a national selection to chose their act, however some changes were made to the existing format (you can read more about it here). The heats were pre-recorded, but the show will begin airing on September 1^st.

September 3^rd:

Similar to Ireland, Wales will also be using a national final, and the semi-finals were also pre-recorded. The series will begin airing on September 3^rd, and available to watch on S4C at 20:00 BST, or BBC iPlayer for UK viewers. Read more about the selection here.

September 8^th:

The Polish national selection will begin airing on September 8^th. Three semi-finals were pre-recorded and will continue airing throughout September until the final, which will be on the 29^th of September. Read more here.

September 15th:

Armenia will be holding the second edition of Depi Mankakan Evratesil to decide on their next Junior Eurovision entrant. The final will be held on September 15th. Read more here. 

September 20^th:

Belarus will be selecting their next Junior Eurovision entrant from a field of 10 participants. You can find out who is participating here.

September 24^th:

Wales will be concluding their national selection at the Cymru Llandudno, with mentors Connie Fisher, Tara Bethan and Lloyd Macey. Read more about the selection here.

September 28^th:

Earlier in the Junior Eurovision season, the competing Dutch participants and their songs were revealed to the public. The participants have been building a strong social media presence in the lead up to the contest, which will conclude on September 28^th. September 29^th:

The Irish Junior Eurovision selection will feature a semi-final on September 29^th with the finalists to be chosen. This time around, the song will be revealed at a later date rather than being featured in the selection. Read more about it here.

September 29^th:

Poland will conclude their national final, Szansa na Sukces on the 29^th of September after four prior semi-finals. The finalists will perform two songs, an original for Junior Eurovision as well as a cover song. Read more here.

October 6th:

The Irish selection will conclude, with the winner decided.
